Y2K Lookbook

By Angel Sohu

As a girl who likes to think of herself as pretty well versed in fashion, I’ve always been a huge fan of the early 2000’s trends and have always tried to incorporate them into each of my looks.

Well, thanks to the rise of ever addicting social media platform TikTok, my love of Y2K fashion has finally reached the masses! The app has recently popularized the ever so titled “Y2K” fashion trends. These trends include things like Juicy Couture, Bebe, FUBU, mini skirts, low-rise jeans, little handbags, the color pink, etc. These are all trends & brands I believe look great on literally anyone. Like truly, we should all be living our Destiny’s Child/Paris Hilton fashion fantasies! So, in order to strike some inspiration in each of you, I have put together a little Y2K/Internet inspired lookbook!

For this look, I really wanted to channel all of those cute early 00’s trends like pink, backless tops, mini skirts, etc. but give it a bit of a 2020 twist! I feel like this look is super cute & I am absolutely obsessed! To achieve this look simply pair your fave backless top with a denim mini skirt, a statement jacket (I opted for this cropped fur/bomber jacket blend) & throw on a cute mini purse + sneakers and you’re ready to go!

Jacket: Thrifted

Top: SHEIN

Skirt: Lucky Brand Jeans

Bag: Thrifted

Shoes: FILA

Those of you that know me know I adore my Nintendo Switch. I play it every day practically. So, trying to stay in theme with the Y2K vibe, but also adding in a bit of internet culture, I wanted to do a cute gamer girl look fused with anime girl realness! For this look, I paired a baby pink skater skirt with this graphic anime eye tee and teamed it with my favorite super cute anime-inspired face mask (It’s COVID season, we can stay safe & still be cute people!). Easily achieve this look with your own skater skirt, graphic anime-inspired cropped tee, and super cute mask to tie it all together!

Mask: Gift from my bestie (shout out Noah!)

Honestly, this is hands down my absolute favorite look from the bunch. I am obsessed with all things pink, and I just feel like the little details of this look really tie it all together. I paired this super cute fuzzy pink bra with my fave hot pink Juicy Couture track pants, this super cute pink Bebe bag, and some super tall platform heels! The key to achieving this look is the juicy sweatpants. I highly recommend buying a pair, they’re truly the most comfortable things ever! I have 5 pairs and none of them disappoint. Pair with your fave iced out hoops & do a cute little euphoria makeup look! It’s your world, we’re just living in it.

I know what you’re thinking… this look isn’t TOTALLY y2k by any means and is she wearing THE strawberry dress? Let me clarify. I know this look isn’t super y2k, but I couldn’t resist! And honestly, at this point, this dress is totally a part of internet culture! But I do have to let you all in on a little secret: while the strawberry dress is an absolutely beautiful gown by Lirika Matoshi, this is not in fact the original. Cut me some slack, I’m a broke college girl! But alas, yes, this is a replica of the famous dress. I absolutely adored this dress when I first saw it on Twitter and I highly suggest that everyone invest in an adorable sundress like this. They’re wonderful! I paired it with my favorite pink heels and that’s all there is to it!

Dress: Don’t be like me, get the original! From Lirika Matoshi
